On July 17-20, 2025, the European U23 Athletics Championships will be held at Fana Stadium in Bergen. This is the second international individual track and field championship in Norway since the European Championships at Bislett in 1946 and the second largest international championship in any sport ever held in Bergen.

We’re now looking for service-minded, positive officials for many exciting tasks, who want to join our great EU23CH Team Bergen.

To work as and official at the competition, you must have referee education. Those who will work as referee during the championship register here:

As a volunteer, you will receive:

  • The opportunity to participate in test events, informational meetings, and training sessions.
  • Tickets to the championship.

    Accreditation

    This group is responsible for the approval and categorization of all individuals who will have an official connection to U23CH2025 Bergen. Accreditation is also responsible for the online registration solution and the clearly defined zones at the arena. Additionally, we will establish and operate accreditation centers. We need someone who is organized, service-oriented, and capable of handling various data and digital tools. You should be proficient in both Norwegian and English.

    Catering & Kiosk sales

    Responsible for the operation of EA Club”s catering, as well as organizing food service for volunteers and athletes participating in the multi-event. There is a need for staffing at all sales points, as well as for delivering goods to kiosks, tents, and serving areas for accredited groups. This also includes responsibility for cleaning and maintenance of the serving areas.

    Security / Guarding

    The security section will ensure effective and sufficient security during U23CH2025 Bergen. There is a need for volunteers for security duties, parking at the main arenas and associated venues, as well as traffic officers.

    Team Services

    The section plays a role in welcoming athletes and teams. You are responsible for the information desks at the hotels and other services provided to the teams. The role involves ensuring clear communication and providing accurate information to teams and athletes. You should be a service-minded person who enjoys helping others, and you should be proficient in English.

    Technology & IT

    We need volunteers for setting up the technical production. We also require volunteers with technology and IT skills. If you have this expertise, please write about it in the comments section when you register.

    Transportation

    You will be responsible for bus transportation of athletes and accredited guests (Transport Manager + coordinators at the transport office) as well as for logistics to the arena, including inventory management and goods transport. Additionally, there is a need for dedicated drivers for T1 and T2 cars as well as some minibuses. The T1 driver is a dedicated driver who must be available for transportation throughout the entire championship. The other drivers for T2 and minibuses will work on a shift basis, either daily or divided into two shifts per day. All drivers of these vehicles must speak good English, have held a license for a minimum of 5 years, and be well familiar with the area and route between Flesland and Bergen city center area

    Unwinding competition

    Requires professional expertise. Referee training is required to work with the actual competition organization. Anyone who will be working on this task, register HERE.

    Competition service & Call room

    Contribute to supportive tasks related to the competition and Call room.

    Rigging team

    We need volunteers for setting up the arenas in the week leading up to the championship. We also need a dedicated rigging team on standby during the championship. Additionally, we require a rigging team in the days following the competition for dismantling the arenas. We are looking for someone who enjoys physical work and is hands-on

    Service in other arenas

    We will provide athletes with warm-up and training facilities in our own arenas before and during the championships. We need guards and hosts for all warm-up and training venues.

    Sustainability

    We will make sure the event is organized in an environmentally friendly way. It”s important that our sustainability principles are included in everything we do during the planning and the championship itself. Our sustainability plan covers things like buying supplies, food and catering, waste management, transportation, energy use, sponsors and suppliers, appearance, communication, and environmental certifications. As a member of our sustainability team, you`ll have the chance to take part in activities that promote sustainability before, during, and after the championship.

    Marketplace

    We are building a dedicated marketplace at the stadium with various sales booths and activities. Among other things, children will have the opportunity to try different athletics activities. The tasks include setting up and dismantling the marketplace, as well as providing security and acting as activity hosts during the competition days.

    Ticket sales

    Responsible for planning and executing ticket sales, as well as assisting in the implementation of access control. You should be good with numbers, service-oriented, proficient in English speaking, and have a positive attitude

    Inspiration tour

    During May 2025, we will go on tours, visiting various shopping centers in Bergen Kommune. We will organize athletics activities for children and promote the European Championship. If you want to join the tour and spread the joy of athletics to children, this is the job for you!

    Arena advertising & signage

    Banners for the events, partner posters, and a series of signs to guide both athletes, spectators, and officials to their designated areas will be installed at the arena. The work will take place both before, during, and after the championship (taking down all the signs).

    Medal ceremony

    The medal ceremony will be held by official personell, but we need volunteers to assist with all logistics surrounding the ceremony, including preparing flags, organizing, and accompanying the athletes, etc.

    VIP Services

    In the VIP section, you can work in the EA Club, at the VIP hotel helpdesks, or at VIP seating in the stadium. You will be responsible for providing the best customer service to our VIP guests and ensuring they have everything they need to enjoy the championship. This area also includes responsibility for taking care of our own partners. You must be service-oriented and proficient in speaking English.

    Opening ceremony

    At the opening ceremony, we need young athletes who can be flag bearers for all the participating nations.

    Other guest services

    Preparation and distribution of welcome bags is one of the tasks under guest services. Another exciting task is organizing and hosting our excursions. Our guests will be offered the opportunity to participate in two different guided tours where we show them Bergen and all the wonderful things it has to offer

    Media Services

    Facilitating for the media. Ensure they have everything they need to perform their tasks during the championship. The responsibilities include setting up media areas before the championship and various service tasks during the event. The media will also have a staffed helpdesk available during the championship

    Social media and web

    Both before, during, and after the championship, we want to be visible on social media, on our websites, and in the media landscape. We are looking for someone who understands these channels and can produce exciting content and engaging stories. Content will be continuously created to promote the event atmosphere and increase awareness and interest among both participants and spectators. We will also promote our partners. Additionally, we want documentation during the championship. This material will be used for summaries and reporting after the event. In this section, you will have the opportunity to contribute throughout the year, both before, during, and after the European Championship.

    Medical

    This job involves:
    1. Medical readiness for athletes during the competition, with a doctor/nurse/medical office equipped with necessary supplies.
    2. 24/7 medical readiness for athletes while they are in Bergen. An on-call system will be established.
    3. Medical readiness for spectators and organizers/volunteers during the event. We are looking for first responders, nurses, doctors, and physiotherapists.

    Anti-Doping

    Involves accompanying athletes who have been selected for doping control. The volunteers here must be over 18 years old

    Voluntary clothing

    Responsibility for preparing and distributing volunteer clothing to all volunteers. You should be organized, service-oriented, and focused on maintaining tidiness

    Voluntary services

    You will provide assistance to the group leaders regarding any changes that may arise in relation to shift schedules and the dispensation of volunteer reserves. Provide information to the volunteers and introduce them to their tasks. You should be able to communicate with all types of people both in person and digitally, be service-oriented, act as a motivator, have a good command of spoken English, and maintain a positive attitude.

    Venue and area cleaning

    Help keep the areas clean and tidy, including seating, restrooms, and catering areas. A key role for a successful championship!
