Welcome to Bergen for the European Athletics U23 Championships in 2025.

We look forward to welcoming athletes, coaches, and officials from all across Europe to Bergen for the European Athletics U23 Championships on July 17-20, 2025. The competition will take place at the beautiful Fana Stadium, and accommodation for all guests will be conveniently located near the venue. We aim to create a memorable championship, where our guests will be given the best hospitality possible.

The local organizing committee is led by LOC President Pål Hafstad Thorsen. The committee has started the planning, and with 450 days remaining until the championship, the first Event Coordination Meeting with European Athletics (EA) staff was held.

– Visiting the Training venue, which has both an indoor and an outdoor stadium.

EA staff arrived in Bergen on April 22 with seven staff members, two Technical Delegates, and the European Athletics Organisational Delegate, Antti Philakoski.While in Bergen, EA visited the stadium, training facilities, and hotels. Additionally, working sessions was conducted, allowing LOC representatives to collaborate closely with the EA staff in each area of responsibility.

– Dinner at restaurant Villani

One the first day there was also time to get to know each other better through a pleasant dinner at Restaurant Villani, where EA guests and LOC directors participated.
On the second day, and as a conclusion to the visit, the host city Bergen Municipality invited everyone to dinner at Restaurant Bryggeloftet in the City Center of Bergen.
Bergen Municipality and Vestland County Council participated in the dinner with political delegates and staff.
Reidar Digranes, Commissioner for Business Development, Culture, and Sports at Bergen Municipality, welcomed the guests to Bergen. He also expressed gratitude for Bergen’s opportunity to be the host city in 2025 and excitement to contribute to creating a memorable championship for young promising athletes from all across Europe.

Anne Farseth, President of the Norwegian Athletics Federation, thanked EA for the opportunity to host the championship, assuring that The Federation, along with LOC, Bergen Municipality, and Vestland County Council, will work hard to deliver a championship that all involved parties can be proud of.

Council Member Antti Philakoski gave a speech on behalf of EA. Antti emphasized that we “stand united,” driven by our passion for athletics and our common goal of creating a memorable and inclusive championship for all participants. He assured us that the European federation will support us all the way to July 2025, providing us with the confidence and support we need to succeed. Antti also highlighted the strength of the large volunteer engagement we have in Norway, something he himself experienced in Finland during the previous EU23.

LOC want to thank for a very useful visit, and with more knowledge, they now continue to work towards a successful championship in 2025.
