On July 17-20, 2025, the European U23 Athletics Championships will be held at Fana Stadium in Bergen. This is the second international individual track and field championship in Norway since the European Championships at Bislett in 1946 and the second largest international championship in any sport ever held in Bergen.
We’re now looking for service-minded, positive officials for many exciting tasks, who want to join our great EU23CH Team Bergen.

To work as and official at the competition, you must have referee education. Those who will work as referee during the championship register here:
As a volunteer, you will receive:

Hotels and accommodation
Responsible for coordinating with the various hotels where U23CH2025 Bergen’s accredited guests are staying (athletes, coaches, team leaders, technical staff, and other official guests), and ensuring that the desired level of service is delivered.
(Accommondation Manger is responsible for planning and distribution of teams at the hotels, as well as all coordination prior to the championship). We will have a helpdesk in all hotels for the accredited guests. The helpdesk is responsible for assisting in various inquiries and answering questions from guests.
Accreditation
Accreditation is responsible for the approval and categorization of all persons who will have an official connection to U23CH2025 Bergen. Accreditation is responsible for the online registration solution and zones in arenas that are clearly defined and known. Will also establish and operate accreditation centers. We need someone who is structured, service-minded and can handle various data and digital tools. You are fluent in both Norwegian and English
Catering & Kiosk sales
Responsibility for the operation of EA Club’s catering as well as facilitating food service for volunteers and for the athletes who participate in multi-combat. Need for staffing of all outlets, as well as delivery of goods to kiosks, tents and restaurants for accredited groups. Also involves responsibility for cleaning and maintenance of the hospitality venues.
Security / Guarding
The security section will ensure effective and adequate security in connection with U23CH2025 Bergen. There is a need for officials for security, parking at the main arenas and associated arenas such as parking lots outside the arena, as well as traffic guards.
Team Services
The section is an important part of the hosting role for athletes, teams and VIP guests. Responsible for all information desks at the hotels, training facilities outside the arena. Ensure good information for teams, athletes and guests. You are a service-minded person who loves to help others. Should be able to speak English well.
Technology & IT
We need personnel to rig the technical production. We also need personnel with technology and IT expertise. If you have this expertise, write a little about it in the comments field when you register.
Transportation
Responsibility for bus transportation of athletes and accredited guests (Transport manager + coordinators at transport office). Responsibility for logistics into the arena – including warehousing and goods transport. In addition, there is a need for dedicated drivers for T1 and T2 cars as well as some minibuses. For T1 drivers, this is a dedicated driver who must be available to drive throughout the championship. The other drivers of the T2 and minibuses will go on a shift arrangement, either per day or per week. day, or split into two sessions per day. day. All drivers of these vehicles must speak good English and have been licensed for a minimum of 5 years, and be well known in the Flesland – Bergen city center area.
Unwinding competition
Requires professional expertise. Referee training is required to work with the actual competition organization. Anyone who will be working on this task, register HERE.
Competition service
Contribute with tasks related to the competition. For example, it can such as transport of athletes’ clothing, service tasks for delegates and judges, as well as help in preparing equipment.
Rigging team
We need personnel to rig and de-rig the arenas. We’re looking for someone who enjoys physical work and is practical. The tasks include building installations, decorating the arena, installing signs and putting up fences. The tasks take place before, during and after the championship.
Service in other arenas
We will provide athletes with warm-up and training facilities in our own arenas before and during the championships. We need guards and hosts for all warm-up and training venues.
Sustainability
We will ensure that the event is carried out in an environmentally and climate-friendly way. Our sustainability plan governs purchasing, food and food service, waste management, transportation, economic energy use, sponsors and suppliers, aesthetics, information and communication, ecolabelling and environmental certification. As part of our sustainability team, you will be able to take part in activities that promote sustainability both before, during and after the championship.
Marketplace
We’re building our own marketplace at the stadium with various sales stalls and activities. Among other things. children can try different athletics exercises. The task is to set up/break down the marketplace, as well as guard/activity host at the marketplace on competition days.
Ticket sales
The team performs ticket control at the entrances and assists with the distribution of free tickets to guests. The position requires excellent customer service and the ability to handle pressure in a sometimes hectic environment, as well as fluency in Norwegian and English. It will also be possible to participate at sales stands at various events before the championship.
Inspiration tour
In April 2025, we go on tour. Then we visit various shopping centers in the municipality. We’ll be organizing athletics activities for children and promoting the European Championships. If you want to join a trip and spread the joy of athletics to children, this is the job for you.
Arena advertising & signage
Banners for the organizer and sponsors will be mounted in the arena. In addition, signs will be erected to guide athletes, the public and officials to their areas. The work takes place before, during and after the championship (take down all signs).
Medal ceremony
The medal ceremony is carried out by officials, but we need volunteers to help with all the logistics around the ceremony, preparing flags and prizes, and accompanying athletes and medal presenters.
VIP Services
In the VIP department, you can work in the EA club, at the VIP hotel helpdesk, or at VIP seating at the stadium. They will be responsible for providing the best customer service to our VIP guests and ensuring they have everything they want to enjoy the championship. The same area is also responsible for taking care of our own sponsors. You must be service-minded and fluent in spoken English.
Opening and closing ceremony
At the opening ceremony, we need young athletes who can contribute as flag bearers for the nations. For other ceremonies and closing parties, we need help with setting up, organizing along the way and cleaning up/down.
Other guest services
Preparation and distribution of welcome bags is one of the tasks under guest services. Another exciting task is organizing and hosting our excursions. Our guests will have the opportunity to participate in two different guided tours where we showcase Bergen and all the great things the city has to offer.
Media Services
Facilitate the media. Make sure they have what they need to perform their tasks during the championship. The jobs included here are assistants at the press center, coordinator in the Mixed Zone (the place where athletes and media meet after the competition), assistant to the photographer manager and other media services. The tasks require good organizational skills and good service. You should understand the needs of the media working at the event. You are fluent in Norwegian and English. Other language skills are an advantage.
Social media and web
Before, during and after the championship, we want to be visible on social media. We’re looking for people who understand the channels and can produce exciting content and compelling stories. Content will be produced on an ongoing basis that promotes the championship and contributes to increased awareness and interest for both participants and the public. We will also promote our sponsors. We also want documentation during the championship. Materials should be used for summarizing and reporting. In this section you have the opportunity to contribute throughout the year both before, during and after the European Championship.
Medical preparedness
The task is to: 1. Medical preparedness for the athletes during the competition with a doctor/nurse/medical office with the necessary equipment 2. 24/7 medical preparedness for the athletes while they are in Bergen – on-call arrangement established 3. Medical preparedness for spectators and organizers/volunteers during the event. We are looking for first aiders, nurses, doctors and physiotherapists.
Anti-Doping
The task is to follow athletes who have been selected for doping control. Age limit 18 years.
Voluntary clothing
Responsibility for preparing and distributing official clothing to all volunteers. You should be structured and service-minded, with a focus on tidiness.
Voluntary services
Provide assistance to the group leaders in connection with changes that may arise in relation to rosters and the use of volunteer reserves. Provide information to the volunteers and give an introduction to the work tasks. You should have the ability to communicate with all types of people both physically and digitally, be service-minded, a bit of a motivator, be fluent in spoken English and have a good sense of humor.
